If you are seeking treatment for addiction, it is helpful to know what treatment options are available. Every treatment facility provides different programs, varying in intensity and type of services offered. At Pathways Recovery Center, we offer residential treatment in addition to supervised detoxification.

Becoming familiar with what residential treatment is and what to expect from our program at Pathways Recovery Center can help you make more informed decisions when beginning your treatment and recovery journey. An outpatient program may be appropriate for people who feel comfortable with part-time care. However, if you lack a safe living environment and/or want to focus on eliminating addiction and substance abuse from your life, residential treatment may be the best program option for you.

The Continuum of Care for Substance Abuse Treatment

There are five levels in the continuum of care for substance use disorder (SUD) treatment. These five levels were established by the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM).

A continuum of care represents a tiered treatment system. Clients can enter treatment at the level that is deemed most appropriate to their needs. From there, clients can step up into more intense treatment or step down into less intense treatment as necessary.

The five levels of substance abuse treatment are:

  • Level 0.5: Early intervention services
  • Level 1: Outpatient services
  • Level 2: Intensive outpatient (IOP) and partial hospitalization services (PHP)
  • Level 3: Residential treatment and inpatient services
  • Level 4: Medically managed intensive inpatient services (includes detox)

What Is Residential Treatment?

As you can see, residential treatment is considered a relatively high level of care in this continuum. This means it is highly structured and intensive. By participating in a residential treatment program, you will be required to live at the facility while you receive treatment.

The program duration for residential treatment programs varies. Most programs may require a minimum stay of 30 days. Others may require a minimum stay of 90 days. Nevertheless, most facilities will tailor their programs to fit your unique needs and goals for recovery. Therefore, your program duration may be unique to the severity of your diagnosis, symptoms, and the effectiveness of treatment overall.

The Value of a Safe and Secure Healing Environment

At Pathways Recovery Center, we are proud of the residential environment we have created for clients seeking recovery. Our facility was designed with your comfort and serenity in mind. Additionally, we are passionate about providing individualized treatment to address your unique needs and goals for recovery.

The staff at Pathways understands the circumstances that may have led you to seek residential treatment. Typically, we recommend our residential program to clients who may not have the environmental comfort or security to pursue recovery at home.

Examples of situations that may call you and others to residential treatment include:

  • Living in an environment where others are unsupportive of your decisions to seek sobriety and recovery
  • Having little to no access to social or peer support while at home
  • Living in an environment with active triggers, including access to alcohol and other drugs
  • Being unsure about your ability to put personal responsibilities on hold for the sake of your healing
  • Experiencing severe symptoms and consequences of SUD
  • Having a co-occurring mental health disorder in addition to SUD

Your healing environment is one of the most important elements of effective recovery from substance abuse. If your home environment is unsafe, unstable, or otherwise unsupportive of your recovery, consider participating in a residential program to ensure a therapeutic healing environment.

Elements of Residential Treatment at Pathways Recovery Center

The residential treatment program at Pathways offers more than just a stable healing environment. We utilize a plethora of elements in our programs to ensure that all factors that may have contributed to your substance abuse throughout your life are evaluated and addressed.

The Biopsychosocial Model

One of the tools we use in our residential program is the biopsychosocial model. This is a holistic approach to addiction treatment that identifies how unique facets interact with one another to inform the development of SUD.

Upon arrival at Pathways, you will undergo a biopsychosocial assessment. This assessment will help you and our staff members better understand specific problem areas in your life.

The biopsychosocial model acknowledges three categories of factors that affect your well-being:

  1. Biological factors: including your genetics, gender, physical health, etc.
  2. Psychological factors: including your personality, coping mechanisms, self-esteem, memories, etc.
  3. Social factors: including your socioeconomic status, education, family background, etc.

Some treatment programs are only committed to addressing your substance abuse behavior. However, we at Pathways want to address all factors that led you to addiction. We believe this will set you up for lasting success once you complete our residential program.

Treatment Modalities and Additional Services

Within our residential program, we offer a variety of different treatment modalities and other services. In addition to our biopsychosocial assessment, other treatment modules we offer include:

  • Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT)
  • Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)
  • PTSD, C-PTSD therapy
  • Dual diagnosis and co-occurring disorder treatment
  • Individual counseling
  • Group therapy
  • Relapse prevention
  • 12-Step support
  • SMART recovery
  • Psychoeducation
  • Long-term aftercare services

Pathways offers several other program highlights that set us apart from other residential treatment programs. As mentioned previously, we strive to provide individualized treatment for all of our clients. We also provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) services in addition to our holistic approaches and interventions.

Additionally, our licensed clinicians and counselors know what you are going through because they have personal experiences of addiction and recovery. Our staff has the knowledge and experience to show you how to make sobriety fit your unique lifestyle. If you are ready to prioritize sobriety in your life, our residential program may be a great fit for you.

Residential treatment requires you to reside at the treatment facility as you receive guidance in overcoming substance use disorder (SUD). At Pathways Recovery Center, we offer a residential treatment program that is built on attributes of comfort, empathy, and understanding. We prioritize the use of individualized care as we address all of the factors that led you to addiction. Some of the qualities that set us apart from other treatment facilities include our use of holistic programming, shared recovery experiences by staff members, and a plethora of interventions and modalities to use at your disposal. Our program may be a good fit for you if you lack focus, support, or a stable living environment. For more, call (888) 771-0966.
